"To etch a design I begin by protecting the plate with a liquid mixture of asphaltum and beeswax. This ground is inscribed with, in my case, an extremely fine machinist tool and then bit in acid. The process is repeated multiple times with proofs pulled in each level.
A monoprint is a unique print pulled from a plate that already has an image incised in it. My monoprints are created with heavy inks mixed with oil paints to create a variety of tones, simular to a reversed painting process. These monoprints combine the painterly quality of the heavy inks over the precise etched line. Monoprints are individual, not editions, and are more valuable".
